The garment originated in southern Europe and spread as fashion throughout the rest of northwestern Europe. The pourpoint was worn close to the body for warmth and to emphasise the body's shape. This pourpoint is based on originals from the 14th and 15th centuries. It features lacing holes for attaching chausses or leg armour.
