Like all Sarracenia catesbaei, it results from a cross between Sarracenia flava and Sarracenia purpurea. This combination creates a robust and hardy Sarracenia. The 'Golden Eagle' cultivar produces large, upright pitchers. These can reach heights of up to 60cm. The traps exhibit a green and golden yellow colouration.
