Founded as a Public Benefit Corporation in the 1960s whose proceeds were meant to help fund the citys schools, hospitals, and first responders, OTB, at its height, had over 100 storefront betting parlors, becoming a fixture of NYCs street culture before it was shuttered in 2010.
