Bouchard Pere et Fils, Corton Charlemagne Blanc

Bouchard Pere et Fils, Corton Charlemagne Blanc(from a huge 3. 65 ha plot in Le Corton). A restrained and cool nose combines notes of green apple and pear with those of lemon rind and white flower that, once again, are set off by a discreet note of wood nuances. As one would reasonably expect, the mouthfeel of the medium weight flavors that possess a lovely texture on the lightly mineral inflected, focused finish that displays noticeable warmth and a touch of sweetness.

It should show much better with a little more time in bottle

Give it at least 5 more years in the cellar to allow the wine to further soften

with superb clarity and power to the black raspberry and boysenberry flavors

but it closes down to reveal a tart

The 2014 Barbaresco sees fruit sourced from the lower part of the Asili cru with some smaller amounts from Rabajà

There is enough wood and reduction to notice so I would strongly advise decanting this if you’re inclined to try a bottle young

the nose is fantastically floral

(the Liger-Belair vines in this small vineyard run from top to bottom whereas the others are situated in segments

My recent visit to Giacomo Conterno was fascinating

anise and spice

require plenty of bottle age

sweet tannins to round out the finish
