Jean-Marc Pavelot, Corton Charlemagne BlancModerate wood influence is present on the very fresh aromas of Granny Smith apples, citrus confit, white flower and an interesting hint of marmalade. There is even better volume as well as more evident minerality on the lingering and more complex finale where a touch of sweetness emerges that, for me at least, detracts from the overall appeal. To be sure, this is perfectly good, but it would be fair to observe that its not a classic rendition.

Here the nose is reduced though the underlying fruit seems both ripe and fresh

and floral aromas

green apple and discreet spice elements evidences just a touch of pain grillé

Montrachet typically fleshes out substantially with bottle age and this should do that as well but it’s not clear that there is necessarily better potential here compared to either the Criots or the Bâtard

It feels well defined with nicely integrated oak
