An attractively spicy, elegant and admirably pure nose of fresh red pinot fruit, blue berry and a bit of oak gives way to beautifully textured middle weight flavors that also terminate in a finish that displays a mild dryness though here its less pronounced. I suspect that it is again the abundant gas. (89 91) 2018+

The 2005 Paleo Rosso needed time in bottle to allow the Cabernet Franc signatures to emerge

the larger-scaled flavors possess more size and weight if not the same refinement or minerality as the Latricières where the supporting tannins coat the palate on the grippy

Juicy and expansive in the mouth

complex and impeccably well-balanced finish

Fleshes out with air while maintaining liveliness and finishes bright

There is enough reduction to render the nose difficult to evaluate though it does seem ripe

The mouth feel of the medium-bodied flavors is notably finer than that of the Frémiets with the same minerality and punch

the phenolics are ripe and this should round out in time

it still manages to remain refined and well-balanced

the substantial tannins will require at least five years of patience
