A French silver thimble from a sewing box c1800-1820. a/fA damaged dome topped, French silver thimble of the type found in the 'tombstone' shaped etui cases and silver fitted Palais Royal sewing sets. There is a partial silver mark in the lines of pattern but it is impossible to read. c1800 1820. The thimble has some dents and two small holes in the top but is priced accordingly. A useful thimble to finish a set. 2cm tall Finger aperture 1. 5cm Stock no. LR10

The failing business was liquidated in 1872 after Steer's retirement in 1851

A spiral lace bobbin inscribed with sweethearts names- William French and Betsy Uckle and the date 1835

The sides are pearl and the hinge cover steel

They have 4 dots grouped in a diamond pattern as decoration on the handles and are fully marked

c 1910Some surface scratching to the polished stones and patination to the gilt metal but no damage

magnifying lens measures 3cm in diameter and both fold together neatly for putting in a pocket or a young lady's reticule

The blades are in good condition and cut

The tools are in good condition but the box has had two patch repairs to the leather (see photos)

The lid lifts off and is decorated with red leather and it has a leather loop as a handle
