Ipomea batatasThis plant is currently unavailable Intense black leaves make this ground cover sweet potato very intriguing. Fast growing, this purple foliage variety contrasts very well with lime green and or silver foliage plants. Herbaceous in cooler districts. Full sun. Approx. 30cm high.
In mid to late Summer Star like deep yellow fragrant flowers appear above the foliage
The foliage is very intriguing and if you are tactile it is a must to run fingers down the deep olive 'corrugated' leaves with felty bronze silver underneath
Also found in parts of Asia
Requires well drained soil and a frost free environment
Naturally grows to 2m high but enjoys a good prune to be kept to 1m or less (as ours are)
