A pair of silver fruit knives. HM. 1893 /1894. H&T maker.A pair of all silver fruit knives used for cutting soft fruit. They are identical and made by the same maker except for the original owner's initials engraved on the front and that one is shorter than the other. They were likely to have been a private order for a husband and wife or siblings. Maker H&T for Hilliard and Thomason. Birmingham 1893 1894. *The difference in the year is because then the letter for the next year changed in July (it changes

There are a few suspect stones -two are rather small for their settings and one appears to be chipped but none are missing

This example is by James Fenton a Birmingham silversmith and is hall marked 1896

The intricate gilt metal frames are centred by white glass cameos on a grey ground of classical heads in profile

In excellent condition- no holes or repairs and in the round

Two wooden pots painted with forget-me-nots on the lids containing tiny pink beads in the one and slightly larger beads in mixed colours in the other

This would have been part of a matching set in an ivory case

All with their original spangles
