Bird Cherry (price is for 10 plants)Prunus padus, or Bird Cherry is a popular addition to a mixed native hedge. However, Bird Cherry hedge plants are also great for a stand alone hedge or when grown as a hedgerow tree. Prunus padus has lots of almond scented flowers in spring, followed by black cherries in autumn. The bitter fruits are a favourite with birds.

Just like the upright birch this variety also has a striking white bark

In  deep well drained soil it produces good timber

It is quite hardy

especially if pruned in late summer
