Pink fluorescence like this is a very unusual feature--it only shows up under a blacklight but still makes for an interesting addition to the gem

While they may have been designed for science they make amazing gems as well

While the original Nd YAG lasers only added Nd it was soon discovered that Ce could act as a booster to its power

This material is supposed to fluoresce (so they can see where the x-rays in the machine are going)

this 'high glow' material is visible in pitch darkness for over an hour
