SOLD……..A Georgian Painted Tunbridge Ware 'Brighton' tape measure. c1800- 1820A small wooden acorn shaped tape measure with a label marked 'A Brighton Gift' an early souvenir from this seaside town. c1800 1820 It is in the typical style of Early Tunbridge Ware decorated with coloured bands and with small labels from the town in which they were bought or with inscriptions such as 'a Token of Love'. The wooden holder is in excellent condition and the green silk tape has only lost the first inch. 4. 5cm long 2. 5cm wide Stock no.

7mm in length closed (just under 2 inches)

The wear through the silver rivet cover of the knife looks like the positioning of a second rivet to reinforce it- see photos

Originally it would have been part of a fitted set of silver sewing tools quite often housed in a red leather box

They are joined by a length of the original elastic

A small cut glass bottle with faceted stopper which would have contained smelling salts

The words inscribed on the bobbins are often spelt as they were spoken so can take some deciphering
