Shade VIIThe rug models derive from 4 acrylic drawings part of Ana Popescus Shade series, which explores the connection between light and space. The works stemmed from the interest in how light and shade can transform different scenes into something new. The relation between light and object that is not constant is fascinating for Ana, who visually recreates depth using colours, light and shade, and plays with the contrast they make in relation to each other.

Inspired by the aesthetics and the traditional patterns of the Romanian region of old Basarabia

this rug design is layered with influences dating back many centuries ago

The rug is hand tufted with 100% wool from New Zealand and is meant to be used in unpretentious environments where it can uplift the whole room design on its own

We have imagined the rug as a tribute to the immense talent of Constantin Brâncuși who is globally recognised as one of the greatest Romanian artists
