Description
SOLD……'I wish to wed the lad I love'-an inscribed bone lace bobbin. c 1850A mid 19th century mutton bone lace bobbin drilled and coloured to spell out the phrase 'I wish to wed the lad I love'. It has its original spangle including some square cuts glass beads. 12 cm long In excellent condition no damage and easily readable. NB. Lace making was a cottage industry using domestic animal bone and local soft woods. Stock no. KV14
In good condition- no damage other than a couple of moth holes on the sole
The lids are loose as they would have had a cork backing but this has disintegrated on both with only one retaining the metal prongs which would have secured it

In excellent condition with some age-related tarnish to the gilt finish
