There is one piece of line with hook still attached but the central sections are empty. The back cover is fitted with a gilt metal hook so it could be worn on the dress of a young lady at a ball

The scale pulls down and then flips back up to close

In excellent condition especially considering its age

maker JEB (John Edward Bingham) for the company of Walker and Hall ( pennant logo )

The seal end covers a single space lead compartment

It has an applied decorative band and a wavy rim

The pink silk tape is printed and starts at 1

5 cm extended

The print is a stipple engraving circa 1800

They are good quality and undamaged having been kept in their original leather case however the blades are rusted

the blade marked Sheffield 1905 maker CWF (Charles William Fletcher)

It is probably an example made by a Shaker as all the materials used are natural
