Sapphire D20 53ct, 1980s Infrared Countermeasures SapphireThis is a D20 I faceted from white sapphire. It weighs in at 53 carats and measures 20mm point to point. The numbering is not perfect the center of the '4' on 14 ended up filled in. I faceted this d20 from a sapphire rod which was intended to go into infrared countermeasures against heatseeking missiles (IRCM) back in the cold war so not only is it bright and durable it gets a +2 in saving throws against fire!

and on top of that has four perfect cleavage planes - it wants to break into perfect octahedrons

GAGG is a type of hyperfluorescent lab created garnet produced for use as scintillators in PET scanners

or show ripples from the growth process

A small vial contains about 25ct of stones

and OLED (magenta) as well as under fluorescent lighting and OLED illumination

and with a hardness of 8

they reach out and grab the eye when exposed to sunlight

This piece has a few inclusions but they seem to be concentrated on the edges

It also has a single stray saw mark that should come out in preforming
