Copper "Skull"

Copper "Skull"A unique old classic from the upper peninsula of Michigan from the collection of my grandfather, Dave Bergman. For those who don't know, Dave Bergman was the foreman and operated the Sweet Home Mine for my father in the late 1970s when they were mining world class Rhodochrosite specimens. This specimen is a really interesting example of the famous Copper "skulls" from Michigan, which formed as a result of Copper flowing over rounded conglomerate,

and the contrast of the Malachite against the Native Copper is striking and pleasing to the eye

and while the main Brookites are undamaged

Considering the rare Zinkenite association

The specimen is pure Fluorite

but still a worthwhile specimen of this now famous material

The Leadville mining district was the most productive silver-mining region in Colorado

Mogok is the world leader in terms of producing the finest crystals ever known

There's even an interesting orange zoned fluorescence under SW UV light
