It is on the medium firm side of felted hats. this hat will suit medium heads ~ it measures 23. 5 and will fits heads with 21 to 23 head circumference. Felt can stretch a bit if this seems a little tight for you. model has 21. 5 head circumference and the hat is ok. its a cloche it does not need to
