A Georgian multi-purpose sewing clamp. c1800. Painted Tunbridge Ware.A large piece of Painted Tunbridge Ware in the form of a sewing clamp. c1800 The platform on the top contains a variety of tools two identical needle cases which drop through circular holes, a fixed tape measure with a yellow silk tape starting at 1 nail, a fixed box containing a pin cushion which is topped by an acorn shaped cover it may have contained a tall wooden thimble originally but is now empty. Below the platform are two fixed cotton barrels.

Dating to the start of the 19th century

It is partly backed with tinsel-like maroon paper and has punched decoration

The case measures 11 x 9 x 4cm

The sheath has some of the underlying copper showing but this is considered acceptable with early Sheffield Plate which was made by fusing thin sheets of silver to copper plate and then creating the object from the sheet

Condition- the prints have been protected by the varnished finish however one scratch is quite deep and runs across the view of Weston seen from Knightstone
