Antique Handpainted Rascal Trunk

Antique Handpainted Rascal Trunk:: Lovely and very cool antique (circa 1930 early 1940's; possibly older) medium sized wooden trunk that is a handmade work of art that appears to be truly one of a kind although there may have been 3 similar ones that came before it considering the artwork on the top reads "Rascal IV"! It shows an aesthetically pleasing amount of age and wear (scratches + markings) and has a unique one hinge opening system. It is so charming and with its hand painted

Some very light chipping on the ears and on some areas of the paint and as you can see in the photograph the rubber plug on the bottom has a couple of rips

Though the piece goes unsigned

or behind glass framed on your wall

has a shape along with its center medallion that changes from one end to the other which is something that was often intentionally done by weavers back in the day as a way to begin the process of weaving upon a loom

This piece does show wear and tear due to no backing to protect the canvas -- it has a couple of rips and small holes in the canvas + the canvas is a bit curled in as you can see in the photographs but its weathered look certainly adds to its vintage homemade-handmade charm + laid-back aesthetic
