Sylvain Cathiard, Vosne Romanee Orveaux(from a . 30 ha parcel of 55+ year old vines). Here there is no such reductive funkiness as a cool and airy nose offers up notes of Asian style tea, spice, lavender and red and dark currant scents. There is an equally cool character to the vibrant, intense and stony medium bodied flavors that possess more volume than those of the Reignots before terminating in a wonderfully long and impeccably well balanced finale. This isnt as refined as the Reignots

and exuberant

forward and delicious flavors that are very Chambollesque in character

textured and quite generous

at least on this showing - it has velvety tannins that pack a punch

This is an unusual vintage with a cool summer and a very warm pre-harvest period

The broad finish features dusty tannins and lovely floral persistence

Along with the Blanchots this is the most floral wine in the range with its elegant nose of pear

This will be approachable young but I would advise holding it for 5 to 8 years

the tannins are nearly buried by the fruit
