Sylvain Pataille, Marsannay Clemengeots(50% whole clusters). Once again there is a really lovely coolness to the restrained red pinot fruit aromas that are trimmed in subtle earth while also flashing a superb range of floral elements. There is a beguiling tension and delineation to the stony medium weight flavors that terminate in youthfully austere finish that isnt quite as complex. Still, this should add more depth with a few years in bottle.

Here the unusually expressive nose is more floral in character with ample spice elements on the earthy dark berry and Asian tea-suffused aromas

But it has a beautiful finish

bone-dry and impressively persistent finale

it is that the oak is a bit evident

There is more volume still to the nicely intense and muscular medium weight plus flavors that possess a velvety mouthfeel before terminating in a lingering

Once again there is excellent richness to the caressing yet overtly powerful broad-shouldered flavors that aren’t massive though they certainly don’t lack for substance

Relatively strong sulfur influence buries everything but a whiff of the exotic
