Joh Jos Prum, Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling KabinettApple and quince are coolingly laced with mint and wintergreen (decidedly reminiscent of the corresponding Bernkasteler) but also, quite unexpectedly, joined by banana, mango and muskmelon for an unusually exotic expression of Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett that is as luscious in the mouth as it is heady on the nose. Lily and heliotrope contribute to the wines head turning aromatic intensity and their inner mouth perfume to the allure of a subtly creamy

rose petal and an agreeably subtle hint of wood

violet and red cherry

Is this an attempt at a Guigal ‘La La’ style

the most famous  wine of its appellation

As is usually the case the broad-shouldered flavors possess more size and weight though perhaps a bit less than I usually see between the Ech and this wine

(from the villages portion of the vineyard)

cool and ultra-fresh nose combines a plethora of floral elements with those of high-toned red currant

Aromas of toasted barrels and juicy fruit follow through to a medium-bodied palate

This is the first year in which most of the Baroli were aged partly in cask and partly in barrel

Even though this packs good flavor authority it is not especially dense but it’s certainly very pretty
