Antique Victorian Vulcanite mourning locketA beautiful antique Victorian mourning locket. It is a chunky locket made from vulcanite with an applied spray of flowers to the front. It opens to reveal two compartments for storing photographs but not glazing. Vulcanite was a popular material for use in mourning jewellery due to the dark aesthetic that it produced. It is a lacquered black brass bale attached. Unmarked, Late Victorian era c1880s. A fine and unusual piece of mourning jewellery.
