SOLD……A Georgian silver thimble embossed with 'Forget Me Not'. c1830A pretty silver thimble with a rim of tiny embossed flowers and engraved on a frosted ground with 'Forget Me Not' in gothic style lettering. c1830 1840 In excellent condition clear lettering and crisp feel. Stock no. LJ19
I've included a few photos of the inside- both parts are accessed from the back
However the spring mechanism is actually under the bottle rather than under the bung which is how it was kept closed off in later travelling inkwells
The looped closure contains a decorative steel bodkin

The pearl is capped at both ends and they have an engraved blank cartouche which would have been meant for the original owner's initials
