The wine has depth of flavor, concentration, ripe, juicy, fresh, polished red fruits and an elegant, full endnote that could not deliver any more kirsch, dark cherries and licorice if it tried. This is really showing well today.

Shows a slightly roasted quality but also terrific energy and lift to the rather brooding aromas of dark berries

A ripe yet airy nose is comprised by a well-layered mix of red and dark berry fruit that is liberally laced with spice and floral nuances

The texture

The 2007 Quinta do Vesuvio Capela offers a very similar personality with a bit more of everything

nutty and fresh

primary and very young

There is a bit more size and weight to the rich and nicely textured flavors that also exude a subtle bead of minerality before concluding in a dry and clean if mildly rustic finale

And tannins are still much in evidence but there is a certain sleekness

with a black chocolate

Here too firm reduction knocks down the fruit

purity and overall texture
