Galena and Dolomite

Galena and DolomiteWhat an eye catching sulfide association specimen from the Black Cloud mine. The Galena crystals are essentially cubic in habit but show a slight amount of what I would describe as being slightly built up with minor stepped faces almost resembling "Cathedral Gothic" Pyrite. Associated with the Galena one can see beautiful snowball esque groups of intergrown vitreous, cream colored Dolomite rhombs. The matrix is a mix of Sphalerite, Pyrite and Galena.

Excellent quality and wonderful aesthetics

when I acquired these specimens

light yellow “ball” of Wavellite is associated with small Wavellite “balls” on greyish-white Quartz on matrix

let alone with such attractive associated species

crystallized specimens of Valentinite are few and far between on the market

Considering that these crystals are from Bolivia is what makes them truly exciting

This piece is one of the better specimens to come out of that 2002 discovery and features several sharp

but it's still a remarkable and showy large thumbnail / toenail sized specimen of this highly sought after material
