Patrick Javillier, Meursault Clousot

Patrick Javillier, Meursault Clousot(the name is a play on words as this is a . 60 ha blend of two vineyards, Les Clous and Crotots). Here too the wood influence is discreet and easily allows the ripe and airy aromas of apple, pear, olive oil and citrus elements to shine. There is excellent punch and an almost pungent minerality on the youthfully austere and firm finish that exhibits lovely balance. This is a bigger but not finer wine than the Tillets and is also lovely.

As such my suggested drinking window is deliberately short

figs and subtle earthy/peaty tones that become more prominent with aeration

integrated into a slope of the Moncerbal zone that will be executed by star architect Rafael Moneo

This isn’t especially energetic

precise flavors and wonderful length

but complex and graceful

Discreet wood influence surrounds the intensely spicy and earthy nose that is at once elegant yet animale and this sauvage character extends to the very rich

Very expressive and rather gorgeous

There is just enough reduction to mask the underlying fruit but not the floral and spice nuances

the 1995 Barolo Riserva La Rocca e La Pira and the 2000 Barbaresco Crichet Paje

it was aged in a combination of medium size French oak barrels and Slavonian oak casks
