Sandeman, VintageThe 1977 Sandeman Vintage Porto has an elegant bouquet with clove, dried dates, fig and hints of furniture polish emerging from the glass. This is nicely focused and unfurls with grace. The palate is well balanced on the entry with a fine thread of acidity. A pungent nose of soft reduction and wood toast largely pushes what appears to be ripe fruit to the background

There is slightly more depth here than in the Pougets though it’s less fine as well

this is an excellent wine with outstanding development potential as it has the density to eventually absorb the prominent oak treatment but it’s enough to be annoyingly intrusive today
