Emerald with Quartz

Emerald with QuartzWhen people think of Emeralds, the superb stones from Colombia are probably the first thing to come to mind. For many years however, there have been some excellent Emerald gems coming out of Bahia, Brazil. A few years ago, a good friend in Brazil brought us a parcel of these interesting and unique Emerald and Quartz combination stones. Sometimes crystals of Emerald are found frozen in Quartz and not fully crystallized, so the locals had a great idea

There are only a few localities in the world in which fine quality crystals of Phosphophyllite occur

as it has an interesting chemistry

Spinels will become incredibly distorted

Very little damage

The blending of both the euhedral crystals with their defined geometric form against the free flowing

but it’s more than forgivable considering that there virtually every Ferberite from Tasna has some kind of imperfection

the most famous being the Kabwe Mine (Broken Hill Mine) in Zambia

and the crystal habit is excessively rare in my experience with specimens from this mine

The stone shows a distinct pink color throughout the majority of the body of the gem

which later disappeared leaving only the hollow shells of Copper behind
