Jean Noel Gagnard, Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot Rouge(from Clos Chareau and Grand Clos). A more deeply pitched and slightly riper nose features notes of red cherry, spice, freshly ground pepper and more earth influence. There is better size, weight and richness if not the same refinement to the solidly powerful, more austere and slightly rustic finale. Note that this is firm enough to repay up to a decade of keeping.

A more deeply pitched and brooding nose only grudgingly reveals its aromas of cassis plum liqueur and pungent earth where the latter is also found on the vibrant and well-detailed big-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that deliver excellent depth and persistence

spice-accented aromas of fresh black and blue fruits

The remaining grapes delivered their best with intense flavors and crisp contours

with striking layers of nuance throughout

The 2006 Barolos are nothing short of spectacular and the 2007s may be even better

The searing tannin and backward expression are reminiscent of a Serralunga Barolo

floral and earthy red berry fruit aromas

This classy effort should be approachable young if desired
