SOLD……..King George 111 and Queen Charlotte-A large wax letter seal. 19thcAn interesting red wax seal in its turned wooden box. The images are of King George 111 and Queen Charotte of Mecklenburg Strelitz who were married in 1761. The image of the King came from a painting by William Beechey 1753 1839. The portrait of Charlotte is very similar to a miniature by Henry Bone which was taken from a painting by William Beechey too although I haven't found an image of the original painting. King George is dressed as a Field

The chape is released by pulling a pin / slider on the side (see photos ) It has French silver 'petit guarantee' marks on the back
The base metal appears to be silver plated brass with an attached pierced mount
An unusual tape measure made of mother of pearl
It has a stepped and cross hatched silver spring cover
In excellent condition- no damage or filler
A pressed metal box in the shape of Shakespeare's House in Stratford on Avon
An unusual pair of binoculars with pierced bone barrels and gilt brass mounts
The silver spring cover is decorated with diagonals
A wooden playing card box dating to the early 19th century circa 1830
The steel sliders are particularly nice being wired with tiny steel beads
