Spinifex, IndigeneThe compelling 2004 Indigene (64% Mourvedre and 36% Shiraz) boasts an inky purple hue in addition to a fruit cocktail scented perfume of blue, red, and black fruits intermixed with spice and incense. A wine of great intensity, purity, richness, and full bodied texture, it will last for 7 8 years.
I imagine it will still be fabulous at age 30
leaving notes of dark berry liqueur and allspice behind

The modus operandi is similar to other of the top cuvées—harvested into 200-kilogram boxes
lavender and a hint of earth
sliced white orchard fruit
juicy fresh red currant and red raspberry laced with lemon and orange rinds and perfectly set off by close to ten grams of residual sugar
yet it doesn't seem as seamless or elegant as its 802
plum and violet aromas that are cut with warm earth wisps
wait another 4-5 years and things will be even better
