Descriptive map of London Poverty Section 23 1889Section 23 of the original Descriptive map of London Poverty, 1889, compiled and hand coloured by Charles Booth and assistants. The section covers the area between Upper Gloucester Place in the North West; Charlotte Street in the North East; Hay Hill in the South East and Hyde Park in the South West. The districts covered are Marylebone and Mayfair.

The forum and the basilica complex - top left -was built on higher ground to the east separated by the Walbrook steam from the settlement and fort on the foreground in the Western area of the city

It closed in the early 1970s following a fatal accident on the Big Dipper

Tower Bridge can be seen in the distance on the left
