The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Betinna Cuve Franci shows some soft contouring on the edges, but it is otherwise firm and compact at its core with a solid delivery of quality fruit. This is my favorite bottle among these new Brunello releases from Fabio Tassi. The smoothness of the mouthfeel along with the tightly silky nature of the tannins are the main reasons why. This very limited release of just

grass and white flowers

The wine is restrained

Here the soil speaks quite clearly

both of which showed signs of past seepage

I generally had a slight preference for the estate Pinot Noir

floral and sauvage scents

more than it usually is

This mineral-suffused effort is very Chambolle in character and should be approachable young

Note well that plenty of patience will be required
