Description
Landscape with CattleCleaning (presumably that of 1949 55) revealed two cows between that in the centre and the dog on the right. These are severely abraded and had previously been repainted (possibly by Bourgeois) with a continuation of the landscape. A figure in the landscape on the right has also been painted out. A signed version is in the Stdtische Kunst und Gemldesammlung, Bamberg.

The broad characterisation and handling of the figures seems to contrast with the delicacy of the landscape detail which has led to suggestions that Andries might be responsible for them
Calraet seems to have trained as a painter with Aelbert Cuyp

This painting was attributed to Pietro da Cortona until 1880
that it represents a specific individual
Until 1953 catalogued as Cuyp
In 1689 he moved to Florence to work for prince Ferdinando de' Medici
this type of craftsmanship has become less appreciated
around 1870
