Stenocactus phyllacanthus v. violaciflorus *Wavy Ribs*Stenocactus phyllacanthus var. violaciflorus Also known as Echinofossulocactus. One of my personal favorite genera of cacti. It almost looks more like a piece of art than a plant! The cactus is covered in wavy ribs and long spines. The plant will grow upright in time but stays small enough to be a potted plant even when mature. Flowers are pink with darker central stripes. It is one of the very first cacti to bloom in the late winter or early spring.

Mammillaria hahniana   Also known as the Old Lady Cactus due to it being covered in long white hairs

In high light they have a gray cast

Pachypodium bispinosum A nice shrubby caudiciform species of Pachypodium

but be careful not to overwater as tap rooted species are more sensitive to rot

The plant gets 1-2' in diameter

but you can always divide it if it gets too crowded

Give good light and well drained soil

but still needs good light to have their best color

cameronii in having much darker and redder leaves (when in full sun) and more spacing between the leaves

when it is in flower it can't be beat
