Description
A pair of silver knitting needle protectors. c1870A pair of silver knitting needlepoint protectors in the form of a pair of riding boots. The two boots are joined by elasticated fabric. There are tiny silver marks of a boar's head. c1870. Each boot measures 3cm in length. Overall 26cm with the elasticated fabric. There are some minor dents as seen in the photos. Stock no. KC01
The inlay is all present and there is no damage but the shell has a wrinkled / crocodile skin effect possibly the result of a layer of old lacquer

There are no maker's marks but they are probably French circa 1900-1920
quite heavy and still 'golden' in colour
A black pen titled 'Parker Duofold Made in England' on the barrel
Inside the panels are backed by a chessboard design- dark woods on one cover and lighter woods on the other
No silver hall marks- just VS on the nozzle
A small buckle with individually riveted steel studs onto a base metal backing creating a butterfly
The engraved silver blade is hall marked Birmingham 1854 maker CW & Co
