SOLD……A pressed wood 'Dorcas' cotton reel / spool. c1860An unusual cotton reel with a heat pressed wooden top showing 'Dorcas' seated in a room. The text has the maker I. P. Clarke & Co Leicester. The bottom of the reel has a paper label indicating that this Dorcas reel of thread was for both machine and hand sewing. c1860. In excellent condition. 2. 5cm x 2. 5cm Stock no. KW15
The centre of the lid has a petalled flower and the corners fans
It is in working order as the propelling pin retracts
A pair of steel cheroot cutter scissors
800 silver and the two are joined by a silver chain which is also marked
Decorated with inlaid pewter spots
The frame measures 4
The box measures 13
An emery cushion housed in a silver filigree basket dating to the first part of the 19th century circa 1800
There are three patterns -daisies
It is in good condition -I can't imagine it was ever used although I did have its pair once but must have sold that separately as I can't find it
The steel hook section is worn and pitted but the head itself is in good condition
The three other tools are two steel blades and a small file
