Antique Georgian Lava cameo mourning brooch, 18ct goldAn interesting antique Georgian Lava cameo mourning brooch. Oval shaped with a number of small oval cameos set into an 18ct gold setting, they span with a cartwheel effect to a central glazed panel with a plait of hair. There are numerous grand tour style design faces busts, there are two cameos with symbols, one appears to be made from carnelian. The hairwork panel has a closed back in rich yellow gold, unmarked tests as 18ct. The brooch has a C type

it is very old and browned now with some separation but still preserved

it has a nice cushioned shape to it and a small jump ring for attaching to an Albert chain or necklace

winds well

The back has a deep glazed compartment for hair but this is currently empty and could be used for a photograph

it would make the most beautiful engagement ring or perhaps just a treat for yourself or somebody special
