A 5 spool Painted Tunbridge Ware multiple reel holder. c 1800

A 5 spool Painted Tunbridge Ware multiple reel holder. c 1800Five Painted Tunbridge Ware mini reels spools which would have been on a metal rod fitted across a compartment in a Georgian sewing box with similarly decorated tools. I've put them on a rod to show how they were placed but they are single, removable spools. There are two long reels on either end and three shorter ones in the middle but as they are loose they could be swapped or reduced in number to fit your box. All five would measure 12cm together

It has a decorated rim and is marked with a boar's head for silver assayed in Paris

It is of a type known as Painted Tunbridge Ware which pre-dates the more recognisable Inlaid Tunbridge Ware

It is lined with pink paper

A pretty silver thimble with a rim of tiny embossed flowers and engraved on a frosted ground with 'Forget Me Not' in gothic style lettering

A silver thimble decorated in niello work with a camel and ruins

There are no hall marks which is typical of small pieces of silver at this date

An attractive folding fruit knife in good condition

It is unmarked but is stamped M on the base indicating the size of the leads inside
