SOLD.....A pair of ink wells from a Victorian writing box. 19thcA pair of heavy glass ink wells with black japanned brass lids. The lids close by pushing down hard and twisting onto a brass fixture with slots on the neck of the glass which locks the lids in place. 4. 5 x 4. 5cm 4cm in height In excellent condition slight rubbing to the centre of the japanning on each lid showing the brass beneath. NB. The locking mechanisms aren't as tight as they would have been originally so the ink wells are not secure enough

It is embroidered in long stitch and the collar is a real bit of lace
