An unusual theological letter seal. 19thc. Writing accessory.A most unusual antique letter seal with a turned wooden handle and decorative gilt mount. The cornelian matrix is engraved 'St John's Heb. X 23. 24. 25' In excellent order. 3. 25 inches ( 8. 25 cm ) Stock no. JA12
There are some small pressure marks on the plain surface of the handle but no damage
An interesting gold plated quizzing glass
In excellent condition but with some age related wear and a small knock to the rim of the base
It has the usual decorative gilt band separating the top from the bottom
25 x 3/10ths inch
maker JEB (John Edward Bingham) for the company of Walker and Hall ( pennant logo )
It is lined in a turquoise / green plain paper which is the original
a pencil and a needle case ( lacking screw lid )
It is in the form of a tub fitted with a pumpkin form fawn velvet cushion
A little domed box covered in fine straw work
The dip pen has a quill nib and a Bramah style mount to retain it
Possibly French c 1830
