A Two napkin hooks from fitted Georgian dressing boxes. c1820These two hooks one in gilt steel and the other steel would have been in a fitted tray in a box as part of a gentleman's necessities when travelling. They have two rather vicious prongs at the back for fixing them into a stock with the hook at the front for the napkin. c1800 1820 3. 5 4cm in length In very good condition light rusting wear. Stock no. G36B

VERY low grade silver but so low that I couldn't justify calling it that

It is cleverly carved to retain the purple colour at the top using the white part of the shell as the background

Decorated with coloured spots

The lid is set with a painted paper cut out of a house and gardens by a river arranged to give a 3D effect and set against a painted sky with birds

There are no maker's marks or symbols

Pocket sized at 3

Two have the typical collar shape of the maker called Joseph Haskins

The chatelaine clip is base metal covered in the olive green leather and with brown leather binding the edges

Condition- There's some pitting and tarnish to the steel and it is also likely that the spade end has been re-shaped at some time
