Brookite

BrookiteA pair of attractive, sharp, fine quality, lustrous, gemmy, Brookite crystals measuring up to 1. 1 cm are aesthetically set atop the underlying host rock matrix. The Brookites feature rich red to amber hues along with black "phantoms" like the classic specimens from the European Alps. No damage to the Brookites and it's not very often that one finds such superb eye catching examples of the species like this in near full size cabinet display specimens.

The Black Cloud was one of the most famous specimen producing locales in Leadville and was one of the last operating mines in Colorado when it closed in 1999

One side of the crystal is contacted where it more than likely was removed from the host rock

but the luster is superb as the piece glistens in the light

although this piece is not of the same caliber
