The lid has a blank gold nameplate

In excellent condition and usable

Three decorative base metal bodkins

In excellent condition-the steel corkscrew section is the correct length and there is no damage to the pearl or to the silver

The propelling pin is working but there are no leads for it

The piece is decoratively cut and facetted

In excellent condition- no damage and the pastes are the originals

The cards have rounded corners but no numbers which I believe dates them to circa 1870

The base is  decorated with gilding

The silver is stamped 'Sterling Silver' and 'London Made' and there is a gift inscription from Sir Charles Wakefield 16

Inside is a typed paper from the previous owner indicating it is likely to be a late piece from Narcissa Niblack Thorne's workshop

There is a slot in the side of the case with a small hole which allows for the thread to be kept inside whilst in use
