SOLD........'William French Betsy Uccle 1835'-an inscribed lace bobbin.A spiral lace bobbin inscribed with sweethearts names William French and Betsy Uckle and the date 1835. The spangle is the original and has square cut glass beads. NB. Lace making was a cottage industry using domestic animal bone and local soft woods. Stock no. KY10
It dates to c 1800 and would have had a matching folding knife kept in the pocket of a Georgian lady or gentleman
The back opens and there is just enough space for a stamp
A cut glass cheroot holder in a cranberry colour
A tape measure dating to the mid 19thc century
It is quite heavy so the cushion may be filled with sawdust or emery
They are Continental

There is no damage but the mosaic is no longer close fitting
A moulded black thermoplastic case containing a daguerreotype photograph of a young man
The steel is decorated with riveted studding and still has a good mirror finish
