Cuprite on copper-bearing DolomiteHere we have a wonderful matrix specimen of Cuprite featuring a sharp, well formed, dodecahedral crystal group of a dark metallic red hue measuring 1. 2 cm aesthetically perched atop matrix and associated with mint green colored copper bearing Dolomite. With strong backlighting, the Cuprite shows a slight bit of translucency around the edges, revealing a brighter red color. Only a small corner of the twin has a “rub” which keeps it from being completely perfect

Fine crystallized Kunzites are only found in a few places on earth and Afghanistan is only place that produces them with any frequency these days

The piece plays host to dozens of sharp

smooth and incredibly well-formed

The piece is in excellent condition featuring a predominant 1 inch crystal at the top of the piece surrounded by smaller “blades” on matrix

Normally a crystal like this would have grown against the pocket wall on the other side

Certainly different than the majority of the pieces in the lot

Great shape overall

this antimony oxide is fairly rare with regard to collector quality display specimens

but certainly not opaque
