A mother of pearl note book-a French souvenir c1830.A mother of pearl note book engraved with a foliate border and the word 'Souvenier' (an old spelling of souvenir) on one side and with a blank gilt nameplate and the same engraved border on the other. French. c1830 Inside there are seven waxed cards for note taking which fan out. The gilt metal catch at the top is decoratively engraved. In very good condition just one minor chip to edge. The frames are gilt metal with claw set pastes and the prints depict fashionable ladies

the inner block is also mother of pearl but quite a rough piece was used

There are also four of children- three of boys one in a naval costume

A little cardboard needle packet box with a green Baxter style print of a lady in a gold frame

The knob is separated from the handle by a gilt metal ring

The star shaped winder is in perfect condition

Width 14mm at its widest reducing gradually to 3mm

It has some light dings on the plain barrel but no other damage

Hall marked in Sheffield in 1906 by TM -Thomas Marples

there are tiny pin prick holes on a few of the high points in the embossing -mentioned for accuracy
