Esmonin Michel et Fille, Gevrey Chambertin Clos St JacquesA fresh and still largely primary nose is composed by notes of red and dark berries along with noticeable wood influence. The concentrated, powerful and serious larger scaled flavors are overtly muscular though the exceptionally tannic and somewhat tough finish disrupts the balance. The density is impressive as is the power but this is likely to dry out before the tannins resolve, which is why I suggest that this be drunk over the next few years with

cedar and sweet pipe tobacco gradually open up in a wine that is more giving on the palate than it is in its aromatics

By contrast there is good freshness to the nicely vibrant and well detailed flavors that offer solid length on the refreshing if rustic finale
